How is copper scrap compared?

Compare copper lots by their condition and composition, not just their appearance. Clean conductor, pipe, insulated cable and mixed components need separate assessment. Clear close-up photos and an approximate quantity help identify the questions to resolve before weighing.

How does insulation affect assessment?

Insulated cable includes conductor and covering. Its gross weight is not the same as recoverable copper weight. Tell the buyer the cable type where known and avoid treating all cable as clean copper. Do not burn insulation to prepare a lot.

What should a weighing conversation cover?

Discuss net weight, containers and attached materials before loading. If copper is mixed with other metals, clarify how it will be graded. The final offer follows review of the actual lot; the guide does not document a completed collection or a particular payment.
